So Much Cuteness

Warning: The content of this post may be offensive to many in the cementhorizon circle. I apologize ahead of time. That said, I just can’t help myself.

One of the women in my cohort just had a brand new baby and he is the cutest thing I have ever seen in my entire life (well, he may come in second to tiny monkeys, but with tiny monkeys it’s always no contest). Anyway, she went into labor right before the hurricane and she was having a home birth so I was very worried about her with the no power and the lack of mobility in case of emergency. But all is well with the entire family. His name is Kai, which means ocean…which makes him cool right from the start (in addition to being a looker ). This kid has it made in the shade. People with K names are generally pretty awesome.

In other news, Jason R. has inspired my new addiction to friendster.com. As if I needed another distraction in my life when there are faux hurricanes and adorable babies on my doorstep. That said, I have to admit that it’s pretty badass. I’ve already connected with people I haven’t spoken to in many years. It’s definitely helping to alleviate some of my west-coast separation anxiety.

1 how is this supposed to be offensive?

ditto to what michele said, making this #3.

also, why is jolie the one keeping this blog afloat when she was supposed to be the one being devastated by destructive weather patterns? erica, you REALLY have no excuse when your co-blogger is posting regularly from her stricken post-hurricane world and you can't bang out an entry in your sunny warm dry house. c'mon, missy.

i like the tiny monkeys.

i'm thinking a tiny monkey would be a better pet than a skunk, which is what my brother has set his sights on.

Is it Kai like 'eye' or Kai like 'day'?

A#1 - I think the offensive comment was directed toward those people out there who don't like babies.

A#2 - I'll work on the links. My comp at home was being persnikity.

Michele - When searching for cute pics of tiny monkeys, I actually found someone selling them (illegaly, I assume) for $2400. How much do skunks cost?

Mel - Kai like eye

i, like the rest of you, can't see the baby pictures, but i am still offended. what gives?

Posted by: jason r on September 23, 2003 09:09 AM

i dunno how much skunks cost, but i doubt they cost that much.

Being someone with a "K" name, I will include myself in the generalization that we are pretty awesome, whether I was an intentional part of that demographic or not. Thanks!

can i point out that a pygmy marmoset is what captain picard devolved into in that one star trek episode? you know, the one where everyone devolves?

Posted by: dianna on September 23, 2003 04:51 PM

All Fixed! Let the cuteness commence!

Posted by: Jolie on September 23, 2003 05:51 PM

Wow. That is damn cute.

Posted by: Melanie on September 23, 2003 07:03 PM

that first picture is one of the most terrifying things i've ever seen. the second picture though is melt in your mouth adorable. this sums up babies i think. at turns monsters and cherubs. sleeping seems to be the key.

I LOVE the Star Trek episode where everyone devolves. I wish I could remember what everyone devolved into - didn't Worf turn into some huge psychotic beast with fangs, I mean one that wasn't quite his normal Klingon self?

Posted by: kati on September 23, 2003 07:21 PM

let me see how much i can remember, or look up in google and pretend to remember. barclay turned into some sort of amphibian with gills and went around sticking to walls, troi also turned into something fishy, and riker just got stupid and caveman-y. i'm fairly sure worf did turn into some huge psychotic beast with fangs, but i could just be assuming that because he's already fairly huge and psychotic even without the fangs.

but the pygmy marmoset was definitely my favorite.

Posted by: dianna on September 24, 2003 09:35 AM

Yeah, that's right. Riker just turned into some sort of oafy neanderthal, whereas Picard turned into a pygmy marmoset. Strange. I guess that's because Picard is French, no wait British, no wait - French.

My favorite transformation was Troy becoming a fish. A big moist gulping fish. It confirmed all my suspicions about her and her before-then only alleged fish essence.
