tizz the season

On Friday afternoon I was walking across the Berkeley campus with Emily on our way to get a bit of dinner. As we passed through the glade, I was overcome with a warm, pleasant feeling that I just couldn’t shake. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, the hippies were smoking out and playing hackey-sack. Even the “front yard tipi” man had exchanged his diatribe about Amish Nazi’s for an inspirational speech about spreading love and happiness. In the moment, I thought “wow, this is so relaxing, I wish I could hang out one this grassy knoll more often.” And then I thought “wait a second, I used to hang out on this grassy knoll every week!”

It is with these thoughts in mind that I propose THE RETURN OF BASEBALL. Now, I know that baseball was a summer activity last year. But I say we bring it back in the spring! We only stopped in the fall because the rain was making things inconvenient, right??? I bet my bottom dollar that the carnies are back in action, shouldn’t we be too? C’mon people, we can’t let the carnies show us up!

Ok, I’ve spoken my peace for now. What say you?

welll...i am certainly missing baseball. not so much missing the berkeley baseball though. i gotta say, i had more fun at the phill park, though possibly i am prejudiced b/c it is my hometown.

so i vote when we restart it, we return to phill. i also vote we hold off a few more months b/c it's more fun with warm/hot weather in the evenings.

however, we don't need a group concurrence for someone to plan an event and invite people. like i am hoping to plan a picnic soon which may very well include baseball, as soon as we get another heatwave.

Well, I do LOVE Jason and all, I love him to pieces. But I don't know if I'm willing to pass up 4 months of warm, baseball friendly weather for him. Sorry, dude.

I'm in for the baseball. I'm in for P Hill or Berkeley (or the City I guess). I'm in. That's what I'm saying. I'm in.

Oh and I'm not waiting for Jason, and I'm not waiting for Summer. (no offence Jason and Summer)

i could go for baseball sooner than summer, but maybe not 'til marchish? also, i did like the phill park, but i can see now, living in the city, that that's a long way to haul my ass for baseball every week. weren't there some suggestions last fall about parks in berkeley? that seems like a good compromise. or maybe we can alternate baseball locations. unlike gene, i am apparently only half-way in.

funny that i comment on my own site but refuse to post. let this serve as a preemptive "get off my ass, i'll get around to it!"

So, even though I DO live in the city and P-hill is way out in the boonies... I have to say that I would probably rather have baseball in P-hill every week, consistantly... than have the location alternate between p-hill and the city. I'm afraid that alternating would lead to low participation. Although, having things out in the boonies also runs the risk of lowered participation. So really, I don't know what I'm talking about. I just know I need some baseball and I need it soon!
